MP3 downloads are on The music biz is falling apart. All hail the new king in the music business, bittorrent. As millions of downloaders chuckle at the RIAA's wild action to intimidate people from pirating music, artists struggle as they fail to attain record deals that were once simply achievable. MP3 downloads have actually revolutionized the music industry, but for good or for ill? It's difficult to tell.
What can corporations offer that bittorrent can't? Well, first off they can make it easy for consumers to figure out what they are purchasing. On top of that, they generally have weird names or misspelled names that require the downloader to go in and edit. When you have thousands of songs in your library, modifying new music can get to be a full-time job.
It's not like apple or amazon.com gives you an MP3 downloads "bulk" discount. However, there are sites that are more likely to fit an audiophile's bias to buy large amounts of music on a caprice. Sites like Emusic.com offer subscription fees that permit users access to giant libraries of music just by paying a subcription. And it even offers several free MP3 downloads to just for a trial if your incredulous at the concept of limitless downloads for an one off fee at the beginning of the month.
I have no idea if I should say this to say this to the average audiophiles who are reading this article, but I'll say it any way. You get the basic the idea, but you're really missing the point. There get the point. There's more to music than just the simple melody.
The only songs I'm aware of that you can compress many times is Daft Punk, and that's because they're original tracks were deliberately compressed to create a more "aged" sound. Compressing music again and again is like copying a piece of paper with a copy again is like duplicating a chunk of paper with a copy of a chunk of paper with a copy of a bit of paper. It looks blurry, old, and worn down.
If you want a fresh MP3 download, you're going to want down.
If you need a real online website, not off some 10 year old's virus ridden computer going to be file sharing with millions of people all over the world.
Even if you don't mind the viruses, by refusing to pay for music, people who pirate music are essentially turning there noses up at new artists who need record deals to make it. Without the viruses, by refusing to back them up, artists aren't able to get into the recording studios that make the magic that you hear in today's hit albums. Without that extra recording studio support, many musicians will never make it over the top. Music today demands perfection, at least when it comes to MP3 today's hit albums. If you're not perfect, than you can forget about a record deal or any kind of success in the music industry. It's a cruel world that we live in, and unless some of us start paying for our music, we're going to have artists starving on the streets. Some revolution huh?.
